AR15 Accuracy

The above 2 targets were shot using my custom DPMS AR-15, at 100 yards, using 55gr. v-max bullets. This is a 10-shot group fired with 2 second intervals. (See my equipment)
I have recently received an email asking about the best way to improve rifle accuracy. Here are my top 3 tips to greatly improve the accuracy of your rifle.
1) Get a trigger job. A good custom trigger job will cost anywhere from $75-$150. I have both my Remington .270 and Ar-15 set to about a 2lb. trigger pull. Any less and you might have some problems with the gun going off before you are ready, and too heavy it will cause you to pull too hard, thereby reducing accuracy.
2) Spend your money on a good scope & mounts. I have seen it too many times...people will buy an awesome rifle and then buy the cheapest scope that they can find. They then spend a lot of energy and time wondering why the gun is not consistent. Buy a good quality scope (such as the Leupold). Also, spend the extra few bucks getting solid steel rings and mounts. I highly recommend the Leupold Mark IV tactical rings. They are VERY solid.
3) Practice, Practice, Practice. Spend a lot of time in the off-season shooting your rifle. You will become more familiar with your shooting tendencies, trigger break point, and expected results. That confidence will surely pay off when it counts.
